  1. These men/boys are insane,
They talk big and make big promises,
    You are a young woman,
    Beware of them.

One could construe that the men are insane because they are madly in love with the woman.

    Vocabulary:
    • Laare (लारे) – promises (usually fake)
    • Addiye (अड़ीए) – young woman ↩︎

  2. They (these men) will make you mad,
    Leave you alone and desolate,
You won’t be able to bear the pain of the wounds,
You’ll feel intoxicated without drinking any.

Here AP extends his message to the woman to beware of the ‘insane’ men. Funnily enough, here the focus turns around entirely - where before the woman was supposedly making the men insane, now the men are going to make the woman go mad.

    Vocabulary:
    • Jhalli (झल्ली): mad, insane (feminine)
    • Kalli (कल्ली): alone (feminine)
    • Satt (सट्ट): wound
    • Jarr (जर): to bear ↩︎

  3. These men have fallen for your beauty,
They will do anything for you,
    Keep putting off their advances,
Don’t listen to them or say anything to them.

Here AP suggests to the woman that she shouldn’t engage with these men. And that they are willing to do all sorts of (anti-social/illegal) things for her.

    Vocabulary:
    • Kaare (कारे): Anti-social activities ↩︎

  4. You are not afraid of these young men, you lead them on with your gestures,
Looking at you warms my heart,
Your beauty strikes like lightening in the hearts of these men,
Even moonlight fades in your presence.

Shinda Kahlon steps in with a rap and sings an ode to the beauty of the woman.

    Vocabulary:
    • Hiq (हिक): chest
    • Thardi (ठरदी): cools
    • Hiq Jandi Thardi (हिक जानदी ठरदी): Punjabi equivalent of “warms my heart” though it literally means “cools my chest” ↩︎

  5. The stars are excited by you,
They are trying to find a cure (to your love),
Hope the world doesn’t cast an evil eye,
    Come sit near me.

The rap continues with compliments to the woman. ↩︎

  6. Pay heed to my advice,
    You beauty you,
    Let me save you,
    Don’t be late.

Previously AP warned the woman to beware of the young men’s advances, now Gurinder Gill makes advances towards her.

    Vocabulary:
    • Agg Di Laat (अग्ग दी लाट): Flames of a fire
    • Kalli Kairi (कल्ली कैरी): Singular, alone (feminine) ↩︎

  7. They are looking for ways,
They are all high out of their skulls,
They are willing to bequeath to you,
    Everything they have.

Gurinder continues addressing the woman but now instead of telling her about his own desire for her, he talks about how the men feel about her.

    Vocabulary:
    • Chaare (चारे): opportunities
    • Bhaare (भारे): heavy ↩︎
