My notes
I love reading critical takes on data, technology, and modern life. Some books I have read on related topics come to mind: The Death of the Gods - Carl Miller, Small Data - Martin Lindstrom, Here Comes Everybody - Clay Shirky, Invisible Women - Caroline Criado Pérez, and User Friendly - Cliff Kuang.
When I finally get over myself and become a pseudo-academic, I will investigate how there is no such thing as “data-driven decision-making” in public policy, and that any data-driven policy can only have negative consequences. But that’s just my jaded two cents.
I have not yet read this ‘Data Feminism’ book but I am totally sold on the premise. Perhaps I will share book notes when I am done reading it.
Meanwhile, I would like to share something cool that I just did. This book is available to read for free on the MIT Press website. I could download each chapter as a PDF, EPUB or HTML file but that seems cumbersome to me. So here’s what I did instead –

This is the second coolest thing I have done this week.
I saved each chapter in my Readeck app! I can now read them on any of my devices and make highlights as I read! The same highlights could eventually become book notes on this website. Isn’t that wonderful?
Now let’s see if I follow through.
Reading a book chapter on your Readeck app while waiting in queue for a coffee?
Could Be The Move.
